Carlton Football Club

With a strong consumer and commercial background, Cain Liddle is currently the CEO of the Carlton Football Club after holding the dual role of Chief Customer Officer at Richmond Football Club and Managing Director of Aligned Leisure, a fully owned subsidiary company of Richmond Football Club that Cain established in 2016.

During his tenure at Carlton, Cain has overseen the re-structuring of the club’s men’s and women’s football programs and has led the business to consecutive club membership records, along with significant increases in both commercial revenues and the Carlton IN Business corporate networking program.

Cain’s experience in identifying non-traditional revenue stream opportunities has seen the Club establish the Carlton College of Sport, a partnership with La Trobe University that provides a one-year higher education Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development. This unique tertiary program provides the ultimate learning experience in a high-performance environment with professional athletes, coaches and mentors.

In 2019, Cain led the launch of Carlton’s five-year strategic plan that highlights the Club’s vision, values, strategic priorities and key targets for the period 2019 – 2023.

Cain has completed a Master of Business Administration and in 2017 completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. He is currently deferred from his Doctorate of Business studies.

He joined the Richmond Football Club in 2010 where he was responsible for overseeing membership, retail, licensing, ticketing and corporate revenues. In that time, he oversaw seven consecutive club membership records, helping to establish the platform that has seen Richmond membership grow from around 36,000 in 2010 to more than 100,000 members.

Liddle spent four years as an Assistant Coach with the Calder Cannons and a further four years as an Assistant Coach with Vic Metro in the under 18 National Championships. He was also drafted from the Western Jets to the Geelong Football Club where he played four senior games during the 1994 season.
