Brett Redman became Managing Director & CEO of AGL Energy Limited (AGL), one of Australia’s leading integrated energy companies and Australia’s second-oldest company, in December 2018. He had been interim CEO since August 2018 and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since November 2012.
Brett joined AGL in October 2007 and, prior to becoming CFO, held a variety of finance and strategy leadership roles. Before joining AGL, Brett held senior finance roles in major Australian and overseas companies including multinational industrial gas business BOC, Australian industrial conglomerate CSR and appliances business EMAIL (Electricity Meters & Allied Industries Ltd). He originally trained as a chartered accountant while working for Deloitte.
Since becoming AGL’s CEO, Brett has outlined three strategic priorities: Growth, Transformation and Social Licence. This builds on his experience as CFO leading major transformational investment opportunities including the acquisitions of the Loy Yang A and Macquarie Generation power station businesses as well as the creation of the Powering Australian Renewables Fund (PARF) to kickstart large-scale wind and solar development opportunities.
Brett is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.
Brett’s passion as a mentor has included being a member of Financial Executives International (FEI) for more than 10 years and serving as a Board Member in 2018. Brett also served as a member of Waverley Council from 1995 to 1999.
In his spare time, Brett is a keen long-distance swimmer. He is married with three children.
