Andrew Vesey is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). He is responsible for PG&E’s operations including Safety, Electric Operations, Gas Operations, Generation, and Customer Care. PG&E is a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation and is one of the largest combined natural gas and electric energy companies in the USA. The San Francisco based company has 23,000 employees, and delivers energy to nearly 16 million people in California. In 2016, Mr. Vesey became a member of Male Champions of Change. He now sits as a MCC International Ambassador.
Prior to PG&E
Prior to PG&E Andrew Vesey served as AGL Energy Limited’s (AGL) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from February 2015 until September 2018. Until end of 2018, he acted as AGL’s strategic advisor while the company transitioned to a new CEO.
During his term in AGL, Mr. Vesey implemented AGL’s Greenhouse Gas Policy which specifically committed to the closure of all of the company’s coal-fired power stations by 2050. He transformed the company, not only by significantly increasing its annual revenue by more than A$2B and reducing operational expenses by A$195M, but also by implementing projects which focus on sustainability and energy innovation.
Mr. Vesey’s valuable work resulted in recognition of the company as a top employer for the LGBTIQ community. He was acknowledged for appointing and supporting, and advocating for, women in leadership positions. Mr. Vesey is a keen supporter of gender diversity objectives. This included a commitment to increase the representation of women in the senior leadership pipeline (SLP) and during the last year of his term. AGL exceeded its targets for female appointments to the SLP. Mr. Vesey conducted regular meetings and engagements with its female employees, ensuring that they are heard and provided a voice to express their views and suggestions relating to diversity and inclusion.
As CEO of AGL, Mr. Vesey received the S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards in December 2017. He received the prestigious 2016 Business Leader Award by the Australian Climate Alliance. In recognition of his innovative work in the energy space, the Australian company 350.org identified him as one of Australia’s Climate Heroes. In 2016, the Australian Financial Review added him to Australia’s Corporate Power List and a year later, named Mr. Vesey as the Business Leader of the Year.

Prior to AGL, Andrew Vesey was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at The AES Corporation. He led the company’s Global Operations portfolio in 20 countries since November 2012. Since staring in AES in 20014, he was Chief Operating Officer, Global Utilities leading AES businesses in 10 countries, Executive Vice President and President for Latin America and Africa. He was also Chief Operating Officer for Latin America, Vice President and Group Manager for AES Latin America, and Vice President of the AES Global Business Transformation.
Prior to AES
Prior to AES, Andrew Vesey Vesey was FTI Consulting Inc.’s Managing Director of the Utility Finance and Regulatory Advisory Practice. He was a Partner in the Energy, Chemicals and Utilities Practice of Ernst & Young LLP. Andrew was also CEO and Managing Director of Citipower Pty Ltd (Melbourne).
Mr. Vesey received his BA in Economics and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and his MS from New York University.
